What Men Want
There have been many scintillating articles about relationships which I believe are for 'entertainment purposes only' and shed no light on truth. They have been written by women for women who claim to know the inner workings of our mind. I am writing this post in order to determine whether there is an interest in relationship advice from men. Gone are the days of 'ask Kate' and welcome the work of 'ask Jason'.
I am sure that many of you are aware of Patti Stanger an American matchmaker and CEO of Millionaire's Club International Inc. I find it interesting that people who offer relationship advice are often incapable of holding one themselves. Their qualifications, expertise and experience go unquestioned as people spill out their most personal information on television over the radio and on the internet.
Through flowery language and flamboyant imagery they attempt to paint relationships which can exist only in the imagination. Magazines and newspapers distort the truth for want of a sale, television for viewers, and the internet for hits. So where does one go for legitimacy? Where does one find fact? Is anybody genuine? The answer is quite simple there is no truth.
The information we hold, the beliefs we have, are the sum total of our subjective interpretations. We live in an age of information when something fits in with our acuity it is taken to be 'true' and the contrary is believed to be 'false'. It is in every aspect of life from religion, politics to economics and relationships. We love what fits our existing attitudes and way of life. Hollywood has invaded our lives, with a need for instant gratification and lack of consequences. Trashy movies create a trashy mindset.
The 1970's saw the dawn of the bodybuilder a time when men were 'allowed' to be men. The nineties and 'double 00's' gave birth to the metro sexual. Damned be the man who chooses not to shave. Fortunate is the one who never has to. I have written this blog to challenge columnists, to put to rest the idea that women can read men, and to present the truth in a way that may shock you.
